Keynote Speeches
delsi Moleta (they/she) is an award winning queer activist, producer, filmmaker, educator, TEDx speaker and creator of Unicorns - the queer space that helped to change what accessibility and inclusion looks like in Australian LGBTQIA+ nightlife.
"We all need a vision of what life can be. As queer people, we often lack public representation. Let’s work together to change that, because I believe queer joy is an idea worth spreading."
delsi has been in conversation with LGBTQIA+ icon Kate Moennig (The L Word), hosted the Minus18 Queer Youth Formal, and was invited to the Sydney Film Festival to introduce the Australian premiere of On Top, a documentary showcasing the life of iconic queer NYC party creator Susanne Bartsch.
They have delivered talks on queer inclusion for a range of organisations, including the creators of Love on the Spectrum (Northern Pictures) and one of Australia’s leading counseling providers, Relationships Australia.
As the producer and presenter of Unicorn Youth on Joy94.9, one of Australia’s only weekly radio shows dedicated to amplifying LGBTQIA+ young voices, delsi provided a vital platform for queer youth representation and storytelling.
They have served as an Ambassador for Give Out Day Australia (2022 & 2023), were a finalist for Victorian LGBTI Person of the Year (2019 & 2023), and were named in the Top 50 LGBTI Australian Leaders List by Google.
Their documentary FEMME, which explores queer femme identity, screened at film festivals across Europe and the United States and will held it’s Australian premiere at the Melbourne Documentary Film Festival (2024).

Delsi's recent presentation at Nillumbik Shire Council tied in perfectly with our 'Wear it Purple' day celebrations. Their insights as a former high school teacher and as an active advocate for LGBTQIA+ youth were invaluable. The way in which they shared their own story (the highs, and the lows), with humour, candour and vulnerability, struck a chord with everyone in the room - from our administrators to our operations crew.
